What is Car-Go!?
This is a voluntary car scheme designed to help Chiddingfold residents who require assistance in getting to and from doctors, hospital and other essential appointments.
Why use Car-Go!?
We are operating this service because public transport is limited in this area. It is difficult to get reliable and frequent public transport to Haslemere Hospital and Guidlford Hospital.
Who can use Car-Go?
If you are unable to drive a car or use the bus easily then Car-Go can help!
How does it work?
From Monday 8th September 2014 you will be able to call us up on 07899 340073 between Monday and Friday 10am -12pm to request transport to your required location.
We will then do our best to find a volunteer driver. We will phone to tell you which driver will pick you up, take you to your appointment and take you home again.
What does it cost?
Car-Go! is a non profit making service that exists solely to help the community. We accept voluntary contributions
You would need to pay for any car park fees and we would then ask you for a donation towards the cost of your journey.
Some example suggested donations for single journeys based on a 50p per mile cost are:
Within the Parish of Chiddingfold - £2.50
Milford / Haslemere - £5.00
Godalming - £7.00
Guildford, RSCH, Petworth and Midhurst - £11.00
Farnham - £13.00
Woking - £18.00
St Richards, Chichester & St Peters, Chertsy - £25.00
Ashford Hospital - £33.00
Easy Surrey & Royal Berkshire Hospitals - £38.00
Can I trust the Car-Go!?
Yes you can. All our volunteer drivers have been vetted and DBS checked by the Car-Go! committee and have had training to give you the best possible service. They are all volunteers and want to help you.
Am I guaranteed transport?
We will do our best to arrange a driver but we rely on the goodwill of our volunteers and cannot guarantee 100% of the time to meet your requirements. There may be times when this is not possible.
To use Car-Go! follow the steps below:
1. Phone 07899 340073 Monday to Friday between 10am-12pm at least 2 days before you need transport.
2. Have all the details ready. e.g. Tell the Duty Officer when you need transport and how long your appointment is likely to be.
3. The Duty Offcier will phone you back later that day to tell you who will be collecting you and at what time.
4. Our driver will give you an envelope to put a donation into, if you wish. Please seal and return the envelope to the driver, who will pass it onto our treasurer.
Note: Our drivers are not allowed to handle money.
Remember we exist to help you. Feedback is essential so that we can improve our service to you.
We need help too. If you would like to help us as a volunteer, just phone 07899 340 073
